Beloved Wife

You were the love
for certain of my life
you were simply my beloved wife
I don't know for certain
how I'll live my life
now alone without my beloved wife
my beloved wife
I can't believe
I've lost the very best of me
you were the love
for certain of my life
you were simply my beloved wife
I don't know for certain
how I'll live my life
now alone without my beloved wife
my beloved wife
I can't believe
I've lost the very best of me
you were the love
for certain of my life

Ethel and Dave

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the softly falling snow,
I am the gentle showers of rain,
I am the fields of ripening grain.
I am the morning hush,
I am the graceful rush
Of beautiful birds in circling flight,
I am the starshine of the night.
I am in the flowers that bloom,
I am in the quiet room,
I am in the birds that sing,
I am in each lovely thing.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I do not die.....

When You Are Old

WHEN you are old and grey and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep;
How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim Soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face;
And bending down beside the glowing bars,
Murmur, a little sadly, how Love fled
And paced upon the mountains overhead
And hid his face amid a crowd of stars.

MY MOM

Who was brave enough to give birth,
Who loved us endlessly in our childhood years,
Who always spoke to us about God
Who often got no thanks,
Whose ears could hear the slighted cry,
Whose eyes who did not miss much either.
Whose hands bathed and picked up.
Whose heart was so often broken,
Who always forgave and forgot,
Who encouraged when things went bad,
Who always had time to listen,
Who worked so hard to make things go right,
Who made the world so much a better place,
Who deserved our love always,
This is my Mom.
